Claude plans in Australia: Team vs Enterprise, pricing and GST

By , APAC Lead & Board Member, AIREPublished

Most Australian teams of 2 to 150 people belong on Claude Team. As at October 2026, Anthropic shows Australian buyers A$34 per seat per month billed annually, or A$43 monthly, including GST. Move to Enterprise when you need SCIM, audit logs or custom data retention: US$20 a seat a month, plus usage at API rates, from 20 seats.

Claude plans compared

Anthropic sells three Claude plans for individuals (Free, Pro and Max) and two for organisations (Team and Enterprise). Every paid plan includes Anthropic's Opus, Sonnet and Haiku models (version 5.5 as at October 2026), Claude Code and Cowork. What changes between them is usage, admin control and how you are billed.

What Claude costs in Australia

Anthropic prices Pro, Max and Team in Australian dollars for buyers in Australia, with GST included. Its help centre still quotes the US prices (a Team Standard seat is US$20 a month billed annually, or US$25 monthly) and says pricing, currency and tax vary by region. Budget from the Australian figure.

Annual billing is cheaper on Pro and Team. A Team Standard seat is A$34 a month on an annual plan and A$43 on a monthly one, and a Premium seat is A$170 against A$213. Ten Standard seats on the annual plan come to A$4,080 a year including GST (derived: 10 seats × A$408 a year).

Standard and Premium seats on Team

A Standard seat gives 1.25 times the usage of Pro in each session. A Premium seat gives 6.25 times Pro's usage, and includes Claude Fable 5.1, the model Anthropic points to for demanding reasoning and long agentic work, within the seat's weekly limits. Limits apply to each person, so one heavy user doesn't use up anyone else's allowance. Put most people on Standard and move the few who hit their limits to Premium.

How Team billing works

  • A seat you add, or upgrade to Premium, is charged straight away for the rest of the billing period.
  • Removing someone doesn't give you a credit or refund. The seat stays paid for and can go to someone else.
  • Team takes credit cards only. There are no invoices, bank transfers or payment terms on Team.
  • An owner can turn on usage credits so people keep working after they reach their limit. Those are charged on top of the seats.

How Enterprise billing works

Enterprise is priced differently. The seat is US$20 a month, billed annually, and covers access only. Every chat, Claude Code session and Cowork task is billed on top at API rates, and admins can set spend limits for the organisation and for each person.

  • Self-serve: at least 20 seats, billed in US dollars, with usage bought upfront as credits. When the credits run out, usage stops until an owner buys more. Seats can't be removed mid-term.
  • Through Anthropic's sales team: at least 50 seats, invoicing, other currencies, and usage billed monthly in arrears. Enterprise is also sold through AWS Marketplace.

Twenty Enterprise seats come to US$4,800 a year in seat fees before any usage or tax (derived: 20 seats × US$20 × 12 months). The usage bill is the larger unknown, so set spend limits before launch.

Does Claude charge GST in Australia?

Yes, at the list price: Anthropic shows Australian buyers Pro, Max and Team prices that include 10% GST. A business registered for GST shouldn't have to pay it, because the ATO says an overseas supplier shouldn't charge GST on digital services to a registered business that gives its ABN and states that it is registered.

General information, not tax advice. Ask your accountant how this applies to your business.

Anthropic's contracting party for Australian customers is Anthropic, PBC in the United States, so the ATO rules for imported services and digital products apply. What happens next depends on whether your business is registered for GST.

If your business is registered for GST

Give Anthropic your ABN. Anthropic's help centre says a Tax or VAT ID field appears in billing settings when your address is eligible: under Settings, then Billing, then Update next to the payment method. A Team plan may also offer the field at sign-up. A change applies only to future invoices, and an issued invoice can't be corrected.

Anthropic's pages don't say in so many words that entering an ABN removes GST, so check the tax line on the next invoice. Before GST, a Team Standard seat on the annual plan is A$370.91 a year, or A$30.91 a month (derived from the amount Anthropic's pricing page uses before it adds GST).

When the reverse charge applies

The ATO says you pay the GST yourself, through the reverse charge, when you're registered and you wouldn't have been entitled to a full GST credit had GST been charged. Its examples are personal use and input-taxed purchases. The GST is 10% of the amount you paid, and you then claim whatever credit you're entitled to. Quoting your ABN on a purchase for personal use also brings the reverse charge in, and penalties can apply for quoting an ABN when you aren't registered.

If your business isn't registered for GST

You pay GST, the same as a consumer, and the Australian price you see already includes it.

Enterprise

Enterprise is quoted in US dollars. Anthropic's commercial terms say fees don't include taxes unless the invoice says otherwise, and its help centre says your billing address sets the tax jurisdiction. Settle the GST treatment with your accountant and Anthropic before you sign.

If you were charged GST by mistake

The ATO's advice is to ask the supplier for a refund, giving your ABN and stating that you're registered for GST. Claiming a credit instead only works when several conditions are met, including holding a valid tax invoice that shows the supplier's ABN or having paid A$82.50 or less.

Team vs Enterprise: which do you need?

Team suits most Australian organisations under 150 people. Enterprise is for the ones whose security team needs identity and audit controls Team doesn't have, or whose finance team needs an invoice.

  • Fewer than 20 people: Team. Enterprise needs at least 20 seats online.
  • More than 150 people: Enterprise. Team stops at 150 seats.
  • Your security team needs SCIM, audit logs or a compliance API: Enterprise. None of the three is on Team.
  • You must set how long chats and projects are kept: Enterprise. Custom data retention is an Enterprise control.
  • Finance needs an invoice and payment terms: Enterprise through Anthropic's sales team, from 50 seats. Team and self-serve Enterprise don't invoice.
  • You want a fixed monthly cost: Team. Each seat has a set price and its own usage limit. On Enterprise, the bill rises and falls with usage.

What both plans have in common

Both include Claude Code and Cowork, single sign-on, admin controls for connectors and shared projects. Anthropic doesn't train its models on Team or Enterprise content by default. The exception is a chat a user rates with the thumbs up or down, and an owner can switch rating off for the organisation.

Where your data goes

Anthropic stores Team and Enterprise data in the United States. It says it may route processing through the US, Europe, Asia and Australia, so neither plan keeps processing in Australia. Enterprise can pin processing to the US, at 1.1 times the usage price. Anthropic offers Australian data residency through cloud platforms such as Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud's Vertex AI, which means building on Claude's models rather than using the Claude app.

What a rollout actually costs beyond seats

The seat price is the smallest decision. The cost that decides the return is the time between buying the plan and people using it on real work, and on Enterprise, the usage bill that follows.

Budget for four things beyond the licences.

  1. Set-up. SSO, connectors, retention and spend limits, done before anyone is invited.
  2. A data rule. One page on what staff may share with Claude, and what stays out.
  3. Usage. Usage credits on Team, and every token on Enterprise. Set limits for the organisation and for each person.
  4. Training. People trained on their own documents, with shared projects built for the work the team repeats each week.

That is the work our Claude Team and Enterprise rollout training covers, starting with which plan you need. Team workshops start from $5,500 + GST for up to 8 people, and 96% of participants said they were likely to apply what they learned (Post-training survey, n=220, October 2025 to September 2026). Book a workshop and, if your team lead tells us at the break that it isn't relevant to your work, we rework the second half on the spot or run a follow-up session free. If you are still deciding where Claude fits, the 90-minute AI use case session is $2,900 + GST.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Claude Team per month in Australia?

As at October 2026, Anthropic's pricing page shows a visitor in Australia A$34 per Standard seat per month billed annually, or A$43 billed monthly, including 10% GST. A Premium seat, with five times the usage of a Standard seat, is A$170 a month billed annually or A$213 monthly. A Team plan needs at least two seats and takes up to 150, and the two seat types can be mixed.

How much does Claude Enterprise cost?

Anthropic lists Claude Enterprise at US$20 per seat per month, billed annually, plus all usage billed at API rates. The seat covers access only, so the bill grows with how much your people use Claude, Claude Code and Cowork. Bought online, Enterprise needs at least 20 seats and is billed in US dollars. Through Anthropic's sales team the minimum is 50 seats, with invoicing and other currencies. Anthropic doesn't publish an Australian dollar price for Enterprise.

Does Claude charge GST in Australia?

Yes, at the list price. Anthropic's pricing page shows Australian visitors prices that include 10% GST, and its help centre says your billing address sets the tax. The ATO says a business registered for GST shouldn't be charged GST on imported digital services if it gives the supplier its ABN and states that it is registered. Anthropic's billing settings have a Tax or VAT ID field where your address is eligible, so add your ABN and check the next invoice. This is general information, not tax advice.

Can I pay for Claude in Australian dollars?

Yes for Pro, Max and Team. Anthropic's pricing page quotes those plans in Australian dollars for a visitor in Australia. Self-serve Enterprise is billed in US dollars only. An organisation that needs to pay Enterprise in another currency, or by invoice, has to buy through Anthropic's sales team, where the minimum is 50 seats.

What's the difference between Claude Pro and Claude Team?

Pro is a personal subscription for one person. Team is a shared workspace for 2 to 150 people with central billing, single sign-on, admin controls for connectors and shared projects, and Anthropic doesn't train on Team content by default. A Team Standard seat also has 1.25 times Pro's usage per session. On Pro, each person decides in their own privacy settings whether their chats can be used to improve Claude.

Is Claude Code included in Claude Team?

Yes. Anthropic says Claude Code is included in every paid plan, and on Team it comes with every seat, Standard or Premium. It draws on the same usage limits as chat. Cowork is also available on Team. On Enterprise, Claude Code and Cowork come with the seat, and the work people do in them is billed as usage at API rates.
